The Audacity to Love March On The Polls
The Audacity to Love, March On The Polls took place on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The march was organized and supported by “March On”, speakers from “March For Our Lives DC”, Voto Latino, the “Girls Who Vote” initiative, community groups and student organizations, including the Columbia Students of Color Alliance. The march also partnered with “Swing Left’s The Last Weekend.
Speakers included Voto Latino, CEO Maria Teresa Kumar, MFOL DC, founding member, Shaheera Jalil-Albasit, March Leader and former Obama White House Media Affairs Manager Dominique Mann, the New Data Project Deputy Executive Director Sarah Sullivan, and Girls Who Vote Initiative Founder, Leatrice Burphy. There was a musical performance by Bianca Muniz.
The message is the Audacity to Love, derived from Martin Luther King’s message love, and Barack Obama’s message of hope.
The marchers met at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and marched to the Lincoln Memorial, where the speeches took place.
