Randolph-Macon Fountain Plaza

The Frank E. Brown Fountain Plaza is located int he center of Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. Fountain Plaza is meeting place for students to relax, hold events and study. On this spring evening the fountain is flowing and light only a few students are relaxing near the fountain and Brock Commons, the student center.

VCU Adult Outpatient Pavilion

The new VCU Adult Outpatient Pavilion is located between 10th and 11th Streets on Leigh St. in Richmond, Virginia. The Adult Outpatient Pavilion is a 17-story building that houses the VCU Massey Center, and outpatient clinics with more than 1,000 parking spaces. The new building has a blue glass façade, along with additional modern architecture on the VCU Health campus This new building opened in December 2021.

Library of Virginia Atrium

The Library of Virginia is located in Richmond, Virginia on Broad Street. The library houses the State of Virginia government, history and archival materials. The large atrium leads to views of stacks of books on the upper floor.

ICA

The Institute for Contempoary Art at VCU was designed by architecture firm Steven Holl Architects. The museum's location borders the City of Richmond's Art District in the Broad Street Corridor. The ICA opened in April 2018. The ICA overlooks this reflecting pool, which mirrors the architecture.

Canal Place

Dominion Energy's new 20 story building at 600 Canal Place stands out among the other Richmond, Virginia skyline in Central Richmond. One cannot miss its blue glass architure. This view of 600 Canal Place is from Kanawha Plaza in Richmond, Virginia

James Cabell Library

The entrance to the new Cabell Library faces The Compass, a brick pedestrian walkway. The Compass are decorative bricks in the shape of a compass; and The Compass is the hub of the VCU Monroe Park Campus. The James Cabell opened in 2015-2016. I'm a graduated of VCU and I was very pleased at the modern changes I saw when exploring the urban Monroe Park campus, in Richmond, Virginia

Dewey Gottwald Center

The Dewey Gottwald Center is the newest additon to the Science Museum of Virginia. The center opened in April 2017

The Blues

The blue evening sky surrounds the tall buildings with the fountain at Kanawha Plaza in the City of Richmond.

Living and Learning Center

Virginia Union University's Living and Learning Center is a 6000 square feet event space that opened in May 2014, in Richmond, Virginia

Hampton Coliseum

The Hampton Coliseum is a multi-purpose areana that was built in 1968 and held its first event in 1969. It was formerly named Hampton Roads Coliseum. I've made several attemps to capture the event venu with the lights on and the reflection in pool of water that surround this building. On this late summer evening there was an event inside, so the building multi-colored lights were reflected in the water.

Williamsburg Inn

The Williamsburg Inn in Williamsburg, Virginia is a luxury historic hotel that offers luxurious accommodations, gourmet dining, tennis courts, and an award winning golf course. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has twice hosted Queen Elizabeth II. A new reflection pool was completed and opened in May 2017

Virginia Civil Rights Memorial

The Virginia Civil Richmond Memorial was unveiled in 2008 on the ground of the Virginia State Capitol. This bronze memorial commemorates protest of their racially segregated school. This protest was lead by 16 year old Barbara Johns and other students. These protest helped to bring and end to school desegregation in Virginia. Virginia Women's Monument

Voices From The Garden - The Virginia Women's Monument of the first seven bronze statues were unveiled on October 14, 2019, on the Virginia State Capitol grounds in Richmond, Virginia. There are life size statues of women who were celebrated for their contributions to Virginia.

Governor's Mansion

The Virginia Governor's Mansion also known as the Executive Mansion is located on Capitol Square; and serves as the official residence of the Governor of Virginia. The Virginia Governor's Mansion is the oldest occupied governor's residence in America.

Cool Autumn Evenings

Virginia State Capitol is located in Richmond, Virginia. It is the third capital city of the U.S. State of Virginia. It houses the oldest elected legislative body in North America, the Virginia General Assembly, first established as the House of Burgesses in 1619. The current Virginia State Capitol grounds are located at 10th and Bank Street. Currently there are three fountains located on the Capitol Grounds. On this fall evening I captured this image of the fountain in the southwest corner in front of the Bell Tower. The fountain was completed in the 1850's and replace in the early 1900's. This fountain was originally at the home of Westmoreland Davis, former of Governor of Virginia

The Egyptian Building

The Egyptian Building is a historic college building, completed in 1845. It is considered to be one of the finest surviving Egyptian Revival-style buildings in the nation. It was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register on November 5, 1968, and the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 1969, and designated a National Historic Landmark on November 11, 1971.

The Science Museum of Virginia was formerly Broad Street Station also known as Union Station. It was built in 1917, and served the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, the Norfolk and Western Railroad. It also served Amtrak's Silver Meteor and Silver Star. Passenger service at the Broad Street Station ceased in 1975. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
