Pink Water Lilies
Water lilies are a freshwater plant that is native to tropical parts of the world. Most water lilies have rounded, notched, waxy-coated leaves on long stalks. Some water lilies bloom in the early morning and some open in the evening to catch pollinators.
I was delighted to see these pink and white water lilies open in the afternoon at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia.

The green plants including this snake plant have created abstract reflections. This day I stopped in the conservatory at Lewis Ginter Botantical Garden in Richmond, Virginia and this abstract reflection in the water caught my eye. The snake plant brought back memories of my mother having several of these plants that lasted for years. Snake plants are perennials that can grow from 8 inches to 12 feet high. They have sword-like and stiff leaves that grow in an upright postion.
Hardy Orange Tree
These hardy oranges had the appearance of lemons. I discovered that this hardy orange tree on the grounds of Tuckahoe Plantation in Goochland, Virginia. The hardy orange is is Poncirus trifoliata, but commonly called hardy orange and is in the citrus tree family.
Honeybees are also pollinators of gerber daisies. I was able to capture this honey bee on this bright yellow gerber daisy at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia

Mimosa Tree Bloom
Mimosa trees are smalldeciduous tree with puffy pink flowers and a fast growth rate. It is an Asian species trees that is commonly grown in the southern part of the U.S.A. The mimosa blooms are pink, silky and delicate; and its leaves have a fern like appearance. The biggest downside of the mimosa is its invasive potential. The seedpods of the mimosa tree hangon after the foliage drops, giving a messy throughout the winter. At one point I wanted a mimosa tree in my yard, until I relized this was an invasive weed. On this summer evening I wanted to capture the beauty of this tree with its deep green fern like leaves.

Circle of Longevity
The ginkgo's distinctive fan shaped leaves are at times referred to as a symbol of longevity, because the ginkgo tree can survive for a thousand years. The yellow ginkgo leaves are one of my favorite leaves. Pollak Vineyards is a small family owned winery founded in 2003, located west of Charlottesville, Virginia. Pollak Vineyards is one of the 33 wineries located along the Monticello Wine Trail in Virginia. September is when the grapes are normally harvested along the Monticello Wine trail. On this September morning, we walk through the vineyard to get a close look at the Pino Gris grapes on the vines, which were ready for harvest.
