Smooth Flowing James River

On this winter evening the James River rushes around the river rocks along Pony Pasture Park. The blue sky is reflecting in the river creating hints of blue. I used a long exposure that created a slow rushing flow of the river water. This area of the James River is Pony Pasture in the James River Park System, in Richmond, Virginia.

Evening Light

Soft evening light illuminates the Virginia Musuem of History and Culture. The museum was founded in 1831. In 2018 the museum was renamed from the Virginia Historical Society to Virginia Museum of History and Culture. This museum is a history, research library, and education facility located in Richmond, Virginia

Magnolia Spring Blooms

Star Magnolias blooms are some of the first flowers that signals spring season is near. The Star Magnolia also known as Magnolia Stellata is the smallest of the deciduous trees. This is one of my favorite spring blooms that shows off its soft flowing white petals once the flower opens. My favorite location to photograph this star magnolia is now under construction. Unfortunately there is now limited access, and I fear the lovely magnolia shrub will be gone. This year the star magnolia shrub was full of blooms and I was able save a few blooms for this image.

Painterly Ice Abstract

This abstract was created by freezing red poinsettia leaves in ice. Once the ice melted I photographed the ice trails, and later edited the image to a painterly abstract.

Ginkgo Trees Abstract

There is a grove of 300 Ginkgo Trees at the State Arboretum of Virginia, Boyce Virginia. The Virginia General Assembly designated 172 acres of Blandy Experimental Farm as the State Arboretum of Virginia, in 1982. Blandy Experimental Farm is a 712-acre University of Virginia research facility. The farm is open from dusk to dawn 365 days a year. I visited the Ginkgo Grove in late October when the ginkgo leaves ere yellow and partially covering the ground. On this visit, I decided to photography the ginkgo trees with intentional camera movement, which created this abstract.

VCU Medical Center

VCU Medical Center is located in Richmond, Virginia. It is the medical center for Virginia Commonwealth University. On this fall evening there is a settled sunset viewed from Taylor's Hill Park, also known as the Church Hill Overlook. The Church Hill Overlook is a popular view of downtown Richmond, Virginia

The Haxall Canal runs between Brown's Island and the City of Richmond, Virginia, along the Canal Walk. On this evening the Federal Reserve Bank and CoStar are reflected it the Haxall Canal

Red Passion Flower

Passion flower also known as passiflora . Passion flowers are perennial climbing vine with vibrant colors. These vibrant colored flowers grow in tropical climates. These red passion flowers grow on a vine in the conservatory. The conservatory is in Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. This botanical garden is in Richmond, Virginia

Cycling Through The Tulip Field

Burnside Farms in Nokesville, Virginia host an annual Spring Festival with over two million tulips and daffodils planted. The spring festival last approximately three weeks, all weather dependent. On this April evening a powder blue Huffy Nel Lusso Cruiser bicycle sits among rows of colorful tulips.

Purple Alstroemeria Bloom

Alstroemeria also known as Lily of The Incas and Peruvian Lily is a perennial. Alstroemeria symbolizes devotion and friendship. This flowers grows in purple, white, pink, orange and hot pink. I've photographed this Alstroemeria on a led light box to create a translucent image. I've also added a texture.

Library of Virginia Interior

The Library of Virginia is a Virginia Government agency that was founded in 1823 by the Virginia General Assembly. The library houses Virginia's government official records, book collections and historical documents. The Library of Virginia moved to a new location, at 800 E. Broad Street, in Richmond, Virginia. The atrium of the library is an open venue that at times hosts events.

The Library of Virginia is located in Richmond, Virginia on Broad Street. The library houses the State of Virginia government, history and archival materials. The large atrium leads to views of stacks of books on the upper floor.

The Dominion Energy Center is performing arts center located in downtown Richmond, Virginia. The Dominon Energy Center complex also houses, the Carpenter Center, Libby S Gottwald Playhouse and the Rhythm Hall'

Sunset Over Old Point Comfort Marina

The Marina at 37 North, formerly known as Old Point Comfort Marina is located on the now decommissioned Fort Monroe Army Base, which became a National Park in 2011. The marina can accommodate 300 vessels up to 50 feet in length. The marina is located in Hampton, Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. It is a favorite location to view colorful sunsets.

Reflective Sunset

A subtle golden hour sunset reflects in the waters at the Marina at 37 North, formerly known as Old Point Comfort Marina on Fort Monroe. The now decommissioned Fort Monroe Army Base is now a National Park, where the marina can currently accommodate 300 boats up to 50 feet in length. On this spring evening the boats are docked in their slips, and the sunset is reflected in the calm waters of the Chesapeake Bay, in Hampton, Virginia.

Canoes at Taskinas Creek

On this early spring morning the marsh along Taskinas Creek still reflects its winter golden brown color. The Red and green canoes wait for warmer spring days on the wooden rack. Taskinas Creek is located at York River State Park, in James City County, Virginia. York River State Park has over 25,536 acres along the York River, where Taskinas Creek is a small tributary of the York River. On warmer days, visitors can kayak or canoe along this creek.
