Pink Water Lilies
Water lilies are a freshwater plant that is native to tropical parts of the world. Most water lilies have rounded, notched, waxy-coated leaves on long stalks. Some water lilies bloom in the early morning and some open in the evening to catch pollinators.
I was delighted to see these pink and white water lilies open in the afternoon at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Virginia.
The James River is the largest river in Virginia, and the "Fall of the James" is the 7-mile stretch of the river where it drops more than 100 feet in altitude as it runs through Richmond, Virginia. This 7-mile stretch of the James River is near Bosher Dam and the waters around the 14th Street Bridge in downtown Richmond. Cosmos flower is a member of the Asteraceae family, which refers to the Latin word aster or star. They are wildflowers and they represent peace and love. I captured these flowers on a visit to Tuckahoe Plantation in Goochland, Virginia
It's nothing like the peace and quiet before sunrise along an oceanfront. One can enjoy the soft cresting waves and the soft yellow and orange colors that precede sunrise. Off-tourist season is a wonderful time to enjoy the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Monroe Park reopened in September 2018 after a 2 year renovation project. It is now comprised of a 8-acre green space, with new plants, tables and chairs. Monroe Park sits in the heart of VCU's campus. On this quite summer evening I decided to explore the park. The lights illuminated the gravel path that led to the flowing fountain.
Mimosa Tree Bloom
Mimosa trees are smalldeciduous tree with puffy pink flowers and a fast growth rate. It is an Asian species trees that is commonly grown in the southern part of the U.S.A. The mimosa blooms are pink, silky and delicate; and its leaves have a fern like appearance. The biggest downside of the mimosa is its invasive potential. The seedpods of the mimosa tree hangon after the foliage drops, giving a messy throughout the winter. At one point I wanted a mimosa tree in my yard, until I relized this was an invasive weed. On this summer evening I wanted to capture the beauty of this tree with its deep green fern like leaves.

Hill Of Heroes
American flags were installed on the "Hill of Heroes". 12,000 American flags were places on the hill at the Virginia War Memorial on June 8, 2019. The flags were a tribute to honor nearly 12,000 Virginians who made the ultimate sacrifice since WWII. The Virginia War Memorial is located in Richmond, Virginia

Circle of Longevity
The ginkgo's distinctive fan shaped leaves are at times referred to as a symbol of longevity, because the ginkgo tree can survive for a thousand years. The yellow ginkgo leaves are one of my favorite leaves. We have many ginkgo trees in Richmond, Virginia, allowing me to collect several leaves to make an artful presentation of the yellow ginkgo leaves with a black background.
