Trees

Trees are some of my favorite subjects to photograph. Trees provide comfort and beauty to landscapes. Mature trees add character to landscapes. We had an Umbrella tree in our backyard that spread out forever. Perhaps that when I first fell in love with trees.

Kaleidoscope of Tall Trees
The tall trees at Pocahontas State Park displayed a kaleidoscope of fall colors in several of the forest. Pocahontas State Park is located in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Ginkgo Trees Abstract
There is a grove of 300 Ginkgo Trees at the State Arboretum of Virginia, Boyce Virginia. The Virginia General Assembly designated 172 acres of Blandy Experimental Farm as the State Arboretum of Virginia, in 1982. Blandy Experimental Farm is a 712-acre University of Virginia research facility. The farm is open from dusk to dawn 365 days a year. I visited the Ginkgo Grove in late October when the ginkgo leaves ere yellow and partially covering the ground. On this visit, I decided to photography the ginkgo trees with intentional camera movement, which created this abstract.

Look At Me
Why are we captivated by a lone tree in the middle of a farmer's field? If we have our camera we pull over and capture an image, such as on this day, with white clouds and blue sky.

An old red tractor part sits under this lone tree in a wheat field. This lone tree is located along the Palouse Scenic Byway, in eastern Washington.
