2016 Spring White House Kitchen Garden Harvest
First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed students from across the country to harvest the spring White House Kitchen Garden on Monday, June 6, 2016. The students were treated to a fresh, healthy meal with ingredients straight from the garden. Mrs. Obama was joined by Author, Daytime Host and Child Nutrition Advocate, Rachel Ray, who is also a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, and Tastemade's Frankie Celenza.
Students from the Washburn School Garden Program - Washburn, Wisconsin; Montezuma School to Farm Project - Cortez, Colorado; and Edible Schoolyard New Orleans - New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 2016 White House Spring Kitchen Garden includes, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, leek, arugula, brussel sprouts, radish, lettuce, kale, pac choi, fennel, garlic, spinach, shallots, mustard greens, onion, tatsoi, and strawberries .
