The History of Gospel Music Workshop
The First Lady hosted a daytime workshop on the history of gospel music on April 15, 2015. . The First Lady welcomed more than 130 middle school, high school and college students from across the country to take part in an interactive student workshop: "The History of Gospel Music". Robert Santelli, Executive Director of The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles gave the students an overview of the origins of gospel music.
Featured gospel artist, Rodney Crowell, Rhiannon Giddens, Darlene Love, Lyle Lovett and Michelle Williams shared their experiences and answered the students questions about the music and entertainment world.
