Vice President Joe Biden Visits Norfolk, VA
Vice President Joe Biden made a stop in Norfolk, VA. to talk about the Port of Virginia's Norfolk International Terminal. Due to inclement weather the event was moved to Nauticus. Biden discussed investing in the infrastructure to grow the economy and create jobs in Hampton Roads and Virginia. The Port of Virginia received a $15 million TIGER Grant from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation to increase the port's capacity and reduce the number of trucks driving on residential streets to get to the port. The grant was matched by $16 million from the Virginia Port Authority and the money will help to pay for a new gate at the N.I.T. Biden was joined by U.S. Dept. of Transportation Maritime Admin Paul Jaenichen, Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Sen. Mark Warner, and Cong. Bobby Scott. This event took place on Wednesday, September, 24, 2014
