About Me

I am Ava of Ava Reaves Images and I specialize in landscape and photojournalism photography.  If you are interested in landscapes for business or personal projects, I'm ready to come aboard with my photography services.

Capturing colorful landscapes is like exploring the earth’s beauty.  I have find beauty in a variety of urban and rural scenes, like the mud in the James River flooding or the smallest flower in the Wetlands of the James River Park System.

I was always the kid in high school with that Kodak Brownie camera capturing fun moments. Once I retired from Verizon I purchased my first DLSR in 2009 and my adventures began in capturing the changing Richmond, Virginia urban scenes. I used my photography to explore places that I was didn't visit as a child.    Virginia has so many colorful scenes from the mountains to our beautiful beaches.

My project of over 100 images of the James River Park System is displayed at VCU’s Health System in Short Pump. I also have been commissioned to capture stock photography for the Virginia Capitol Foundation. My work has been featured with Scenic Virginia and at Art Works for the Governor’s “Flood Week” exhibition.

I am also a Freelance Photographer; and I’m currently on the White House media list. I covered the Obama Administration for four years. Also I was on the Richmond Free Press team that received awards from the Virginia Press Association for our coverage of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s Inauguration and the First African Landing at Fort Monroe.

I am based in Richmond, Virginia.  Please feel free to browse the galleries on my site.  All of my images are for sale. You may contact me at ava@avareavesimages.com or at 804 920-1344. You may also use the contact tab to reach me via email.
